Dr. Mary E. Frandsen, formerly of Spencer, New York, has been promoted to associate professor with tenure at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana. Mary is the daughter of Jeanne Frandsen of Ithaca and John Frandsen of Spencer. Dr. Frandsen is a graduate of Spencer-Van Etten Central School, class of 1976. She did her undergraduate work at the State University of New York at Potsdam, NY, earning her Bachelor's degree in 1980. She taught elementary school for about four years, then decided to pursue a career in musicology. She earned her Master’s Degree in 1985 and her Ph.D. degree in 1997 at the Eastman School of Music, which is part of the University of Rochester, New York. Since 1997 she has been on the music faculty at the University of Notre Dame. Her primary research focus is the sacred music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Her book on music in 17th century Dresden will be published by Oxford University Press. |
