Judge Lahtinen Honored Justice John A. Lahtinen of the Third Judicial Dept. of the NY State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, was presented with a special award for public service at the annual dinner of the recently formed Finnish-American Lawyers Association in New York in January by Association President Robert A. Saasto. Justice Lahtinen, of Plattsburgh, spoke at one of the regular monthly meetings of the Finger Lakes Finns about the Appellate Court system in New York state. Later, he invited interested members to attend a session of the Appellate Court Third Dept. when it convened in Ithaca. Justice Lahtinen’s second cousin, Raimo Ilaskavi, was once the Mayor of Helsinki. |
