Juhannus 2011

The Finger Lakes Finns gathered at Hemmo & Patty Huttunen’s beautiful Southview Tree Farm, near Danby, New York, for our annual Juhannus celebration on Saturday, June 25 at 5 pm.

Juhannus, Midsummer’s Day, marks the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. We enjoyed a delicious dish-to-pass dinner followed by entertainment, swimming, sauna, and watched the summer evening light fade as the traditional kokko (bonfire) burned on a raft on the pond.
