Little
old Mars
Passing by,
Infrequent visitor
Catching nearly everyone’s eye.
Brightest object in August’s sky
Giving a lengthy glimpse,
Then daytime lapse.
A sparkle on a steady westward path
Though not revealing volcanoes nor polar caps.
Far enough to remain
Universally unspoiled
By man.
