The Kymi Wind Band is from the Music Institute of Northern Kymi Valley, which is located in Kouvola, Finland. The Kymi Wind Band has nearly fifty woodwind, brass, and percussion students, ages 12-18, from Kouvola and the surrounding communities. They are visiting as an exchange with the music program of the Spencer - Van Etten school.

The band and their chaperones were here from June 29-July 8, staying with host families in the Spencer - Van Etten school district. Their itinerary included two free concerts and many visits to area attractions [Mr. Miller's photo gallery of the tour].

The S-VE music department is already planning the second part of the exchange, a trip to Kouvola in the summer of 2004.
